Medalia Productions

Medalia Productions is a creative production company  that produces feature films, documentaries, television shows and commercials. Our projects have garnered critical acclaim, earning us three Emmy nominations, a Peabody award, and countless awards and nominations in film festivals around the world. We collaborate with international organizations and companies, providing them with a variety of production services in the US, Europe, and Israel. Our projects have aired around the world on networks including HBO, MTV, BBC, AOL and Arte, and many more.



Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Hilla Medalia has received four Emmy® nominations.
Her projects have garnered critical acclaim and screened internationally in theaters and on television including HBO, MTV, BBC and ARTE.
Among her range of titles include ‘To Die in Jerusalem’ 2007 (HBO), ‘After the Storm’ 2009 (MTV), ‘Numbered’ 2012 (ARTE), ‘Dancing in Jaffa’ 2013 (Tribeca, IFC Sundance selects), ‘Web Junkie’ 2014 (Sundance Film Festival, POV (PBS), BBC) ‘The Go Go Boys’ 2014 (Cannes Film Festival), ‘Censored Voices’ 2015, (Sundance Film Festival and Berlinale), ‘Muhi – Generally Temporary’ 2017 (San Francisco Film Festival, HotDocs, AFI, Docaviv), ‘The Oslo Diaries’ 2018 (HBO, Arte, Sundance), ‘Transkids’  2019 (a five part series for yesDocu) and ‘Leftover Women’ 2019 (Arte, Independent Lens- PBS, New York Times Op-Doc). Medalia holds a Master of Arts from Southern Illinois University.



Film and television producer with extensive, diverse experience producing projects worldwide.
After graduating New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a film & television degree, Merdinger joined the production team of HBO’s cultural phenomenon Sex and The City.  She went on to manage productions for BBC, HBO, NBC, Relativity Media, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, Warner Bros., Showtime and Fox.
Due to the wide range of productions she helmed, including commercials, both narrative and documentary shorts and features, scripted episodic television, and music videos, Merdinger was able to build a unique type and level of experience.
Her vast body of work includes Beyonce’s BET award-winning music video, Love on Top; Sundance smash, Half Nelson, for which Ryan Gosling was nominated for an Academy Award; John Oliver – Live on Stage: Terrifying Times and HBO’s critical darling and Emmy award-winning comedy series, Flight of the Conchords.


Head of Production

Production manager, line and post producer with deep experience in the Israeli documentary industry. Mariel’s resume includes work on award winning documentaries such as ‘The Sound of Torture’ (2014), ‘Powder’ (2012), ‘Arab Movie’ (2015), Muhi – Generally Temporary (2017), The Oslo Diaries (2018), Transkids (2019), ‘Leftover Women’ (2019) and ‘Love & Stuff’ (2020) among others. She is Passionate about her work and has extensive knowledge in the many facets of documentary film making – from the early stages of idea development and pre-production to post production and distribution.

Mariel is also a writer and translator of film portfolios for festivals and funds submissions and is involved in technological education for refugees.


Production Manager

Leeya has a BA in Classics and English Literature from Kings College in London and has been working in the arts and creative fields for the last six years. Leeya has worked in international film distribution at Cinephil, working on award-winning films at many major festivals around the world – such as Berlinale, Toronto IFF, and Sundance, and has participated in pitching panels at FIPA and Beldocs. Outside of Medalia, Leeya is a member of the lively Tel Aviv music scene working in music events,  radio production and as a local DJ.
