About The Film
Israeli architect Ada Karmi Melamede is an anomaly. She rose to the very top of a profession long dominated by men. She has built veritable cultural icons in Israel – including the country’s Supreme Court – and has won Israel’s most prestigious awards – including the Israel Prize – and yet she remains a staunchly private and largely unknown figure in the general public. Unlike her heroic “starchitect” contemporaries, she shies away from publicity. This film introduces Ada to the world through the lens of her filmmaker daughter, a former architect, and explores her life as an unusual mother, a different kind of role model, and as an architect building in a country that feels like it’s falling apart from within.
